A rig mat is a steel-framed modular panel that locks together with its neighbours to form a continuous engineered working platform under a drilling rig and its support equipment.

Rig matting is a systems purchase rather than a per-mat one: the mats have to tessellate across the whole pad, carry the rig and its ancillaries, and come apart again for the move to the next lease.

Bamboo composite decking in a steel frame keeps the structural behaviour of the frame while cutting the weight and the embodied carbon of the deck.
