Bamboo Access Mats
An access mat is a portable platform laid over soft or unstable ground to create a temporary road or work surface for heavy equipment, then lifted and reused elsewhere.

Access mats are the highest-volume product in the range and the one most often specified by another name. Whatever the local term (swamp mat on a pipeline right-of-way, muskeg mat in northern Alberta, bog mat in the UK) the requirement is the same: spread an equipment load across soft ground without leaving the ground behind in worse condition.
Against tropical hardwood the material case is not about weight: the two are within a few percent on density. It is tensile strength, where laminated bamboo runs two to four times higher, and the rot and splitting resistance that follows from an engineered laminate rather than sawn timber.

Service life is estimated at 15 to 25 years under normal industrial use. That is a working estimate rather than a measured figure, and actual life depends on loading, handling and site conditions.
Are bamboo access mats stronger than timber mats?
Not in compression. Bamboo composite tests at 87.4 MPa against roughly 96 MPa for tropical hardwood, and the two materials are within about 6% on density. Bamboo is substantially stronger in tension, roughly 140 to 280 MPa against 60 to 100.
